The current economic climate is making it difficult for many to afford to heat their homes or feed their families. There are lots of different organisations and charities you can turn to for advice or support.

If you’re struggling to pay for your gas or electric, we recommend you first speak with your energy supplier to see what help they can offer. If you need a little assistance with feeding your household, no matter how big or small, there are many different foodbank charities that will be able to help.

Priority Services Register

The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a register where energy suppliers and other relevant parties (such as the electricity networks and gas distributions networks) hold and maintain details of customers who may require non-financial support due to their personal circumstances or characteristics. This confidential service allows us to see which of our customers require specific services to help manage their account and remain on supply. These services are provided free of charge.

Warm Home Discount

The Warm Home Discount scheme gives a one-off payment of £150 to those who are potentially struggling to pay their energy bills during the cold winter months.

Energy High 5

Utilita Energy’s award winning money saving campaign about making free and simple changes at home to save money. Utilita’s sustainability experts have identified ways to cut energy when cooking and using energy or hot water.

StepChange Debt Charity

StepChange offer free, flexible debt advice based on a comprehensive assessment of your situation. They then provide practical help and support for however long it’s needed.

National Debtline

National Debtline is a charity dedicated to providing free and independent debt advice over the phone and online to people across the UK.

Turn2us

Turn2us helps people in financial need gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help – online, by phone and face to face through their partner organisations.

Citizens Advice England

Citizens Advice in England give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward, whoever they are and whatever their problem.  They offer confidential advice online, over the phone and in person, for free.

Citizens Advice Scotland

Citizens Advice in Scotland are part of Scotland’s largest independent advice network. They look at the problems people bring and campaign for change where it’s needed most. Their service is free, independent, confidential, impartial and available to everyone.

The Trussell Trust

The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks and provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty. They also campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

FareShare

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. They take good quality surplus food from across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups
